After 2 hours in a Ukrainian Taxi, 2 flights 5 hours flying time , 3 baggage searches, 4 countries and 2,200km I arrived from Odessa at Cafe Finch on a lovely Sunday evening just as Jason was about to finish service
After what must have been a very tiring day, he just smiled, thanked me for coming and then went back into the kitchen and produced the kind of Roast Dinner I can’t remember having in a very long time indeed…
I was coming back to Amsterdam anyway, but I have to say that just made my day…
If you haven’t yet sampled the Lovefood cooking, you’ve denied yourself something very special indeed.
Next Sunday I’m really looking forward to Brunch, without the ludicrous journey LoL
I was there (late) on May 10, and I was so pleased that I could still have the Eggs Florentine I craved. And did they hit the spot! I am still thinking about how well-crafted those eggs were. I will be back to try more of the menu!
Good luck to LoveFood, and I’d love to eat more of your food! Need more brunch in Amsterdam!
Good to know there are other foodies close by…and I don’t have to feel like this corner of the world is lonely. I’m and expat living in Wassenaar…. Maybe one day I’ll join you guys for lovefood! Dag, Ozoz
Congratulations on the move…..
The venue was better with a nicer Sunday vibe to it.
Coffee and smoothy were great – French Toast was well up to the usual standard.
Service was much better than the previous place but dare I say it – it did take a while for the food to come – BUT am guessing first time teething problems and a busy cafe didn’t help that.
Great to see it so busy though and with the new location being nearer the Pijp its totally better for me ( on a purely selfish note)
Congrats again – I hope you were pleased with the day.
Wanted to pass on my thanks to everyone last Sunday, who cooked and served me the best brunch I’ve had in a long, long time!! I consider myself an expert in the cooked breakfast world (I’m English after all) but the The BEAST (everything you would expect in a breakfast and a lot more besides) was simply awesome.
Special mention to the barista who genuinely seemed to regard making coffee as an art form, definitely some of the best java I’ve ever had. Keep up the good work and reserve me a place next week!!
OMG!
I lived in US for a while, and one of the things I miss the most is the sunday brunch, and today I posted a photo of norwegian eggs asking if someone knew where I could find them in the netherlands, and a nice soul brought me here, and first thing I see: norwegian eggs. It made me a happier person.
That’s nice to hear…and you haven’t eaten them yet You can keep up to date on things by joining the lovefood group on Facebook if you would like! Jason
Thanks for the great brunch with my friends of last Sunday…we all loved it!! Nice place, atmosphere and gorgeous food that needs to be said!!
You have done something pretty remarkable…you have reconciled me with the Pain Perdu!!
Last time I ate it I was 8, could not get enough of it, literally stuffed myself to death, choked it down my throat as soon as my mum prepared it and got sick for the rest of the day… yep that’s called learning the hard way and I never ever wanted to see the sight of it again…until last Sunday…delicious it was, out of this world….can’t find enough words to describe the culinary experience I went through…
Excellent good to hear Bernardo. Reservation information for the next brunch on Feb 20th will appear here shortly, will also add you to our montly newsletter. Thanks for the comment. Jason
Jenny, sorry for the late reply! I hand cure and smoke my own organic bacon from locally sourced pork and slice it thick on my own slicer ) The coffee is hand roasted in the Netherlands from Bocca Hope you can make it down!
